Top Glove’s workers dormitory in Klang, Selangor, will go under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO), Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

In a press conference, he said the lockdown will be implemented from tomorrow until Nov 30.

Top Glove’s facilities in Meru, Klang, have been linked to the Teratai cluster. There were 53 new cases in the cluster yesterday, bringing the total number of infections in the cluster to 214.

While he said Top Glove’s factories would remain open for now, Ismail said Top Glove had been asked to screen all its factory workers and those living in the dormitories.

Ismail said the EMCO will affect 13,190 workers and nearly 1,200 of the area’s residents.

“The EMCO will be implemented in the mens’ dormitory and in Jalan Abadi 1A/QU8, the womens’ dormitory, Jalan Abadi 1A and Jalan Abadi 10A/KU8,” he said.

“This will allow the health ministry to continue screening the workers and area’s residents,” he added.

Top Glove has 20 factories and workers’ dormitories in Meru, Klang.

While he did not specify which factories he was referring to, Ismail said all of Top Glove’s workers must be tested.
