Had trouble finding and purchasing Massimo bread recently?

Consumers of Massimo Bread here may have to look for alternatives in the next few days as its manufacturer, The Italian Baker Sdn Bhd (TIB), has announced a temporary disruption to production at its factory in Klang, Selangor due to high Covid-19 cases in the district.

“Due to heightened cases of Covid-19 cases in Klang district, The Italian Baker Sdn Bhd (TIB) wishes to inform that there has been some temporary disruption to our operations in our effort to implement additional precautionary and preventive measures in accordance with the procedures of the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) to mitigate the risk of infection in our plant," said their official statement that was posted on their Facebook Page.

"Therefore, we have imposed strict protocols and procedures and taken all necessary steps in enforcing the standard operating procedures in support of and cooperation with the various authorities such as the Health Ministry, International Trade and Industry Ministry, the National Security Council, Occupational Safety and Health Department and the local authorities," the statement said.

The statement added that although it was aware that the disruption adversely affected its business partners and inconvenienced consumers, the move was necessary given its efforts to prevent and mitigate the risk of COVID-19 infection.

Massimo Bread is among the 37 factories in Klang district that has been ordered to shut down due to COVID-19 cases, failure to follow standard operating procedures (SOP) and the need to improve the living conditions of worker’s dormitories.

“These 37 factories are located in three areas - Pulau Indah, Bandar Sultan Suleiman in Port Klang and Meru. We are forced to close the factories for one week in a bid to stop the Covid-19 cases from escalating. Other than that, we want certain factories to improve the living conditions of worker’s dormitories," said Klang Municipal Council (MPK) president Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin
