The Sri Muniswara Maduraveeran Temple in Pandamaran, Klang was “targeted” by the District and Land Office of Klang (PDT) because it was built on a government reserve (an industrial area reserve). A few days ago, when a brigade arrived to demolish the temple, the temple was finally granted a grace period of 14 days after an agreement, and the temple also decided to do its best to protect the temple within the time limit.

The temple was built on the land before 2008, and according to a past census conducted by the Klang City Council (MPK), the temple's existence had already been identified and acknowledged on August 26, 2008 on the same year.  However, in August 2021, the Land Department cited the Section 425(1)(a) of the National Land Code 1965 to investigaste the case and issued a warning letter to the temple.

Although the temple's management had lodged an appeal, the Land Bureau still sent a team to the scene to demolish the temple on the 29th of this month, but the Selangor Minister and Community Relations Officer YB Gunaraj George, who was informed of the news, immediately rushed to the scene to negotiate, and finally managed to persuade the authorities, leading to a decision to temporarily suspend the demolition work.

YB Gunaraj, who is also a state assemblyman for Sentosa, said that according to the Pakatan Harapan government's policy, temples built before 2008 cannot be demolished at will, and the results of the temple's appeal to ministers and executive councillors have not yet been released.

To this end, he pointed out that the temple is also willing to cooperate with the relocation, but the premise is that the government must treat the temple equally and provide a suitable location for the relocated temple as before.

He disclosed that at present the temple hopes to stay in place and is willing to pay a reasonable rent. If they cannot rent land, they hope the government can provide a piece of land for them to relocate.
